In July, 2022, NCBA launched NCBA Golf Series at Uganda Golf Club as part of their corporate social responsibility activities. NCBA Bank Uganda is an innovative commercial bank in Uganda licensed by Bank of Uganda to provide financial services in the country.

Q1:     Recently, you introduced NCBA Golf Series at Uganda Golf Club, following other golf activities you have sponsored across different golf clubs in the country. What is your sponsorship objective?         

            NCBA Bank has indeed had the honor of sponsoring a number of golf activities including the Junior development programs. We have supported Uganda Ladies Golf Union tournaments, Entebbe Ladies Open, Singleton Match Play Series, NCBA Serena Junior Golf Tournament and most recently we launched the NCBA Golf Series in July 2022.

            Our objective for this sponsorship is first of all to appreciate and reach out to our customers who are members in different clubs in the country. We also aim to impact communities through supporting the junior golf development programs to give youngsters opportunity to build their confidence and nurture them into future champions.

Q2:     How are golfers responding to your brand in light of your   sponsorship?

            We have seen a tremendous response from the golfers through their participation. We have seen over 150 golfers participate in each of the tournaments we support.

Q3:     NCBA Kenya is also sponsoring NCBA Golf Series. Do you, in your strategic plan, intend to combine the two series to have one big East Africa Golf Series?

            The NCBA Golf series was launched in Nairobi early this year at the Kenya Railways Golf Club. To date, the region is closing in on 18 tournaments scheduled for the NCBA Golf Series including the 2022 NCBA Serena Junior Golf and NCBA Golf Series in Kampala.

            The Grand Finale will be hosted at Muthaiga Golf Club this December in Nairobi Kenya and Grand Prize is fully sponsored trip to Fan Court Golf Estate in South Africa.

Q4:     Apart from golf, what other CSR activities are you involved in?

            Our pillars include Preventative Health and Wellness as well as Youth Enterprise Development. Therefore, in line with our pillars, we have improved water sanitation in communities such as Kamda Senior Secondary School in Mukono where we built a borehole and recently Noah’s Ark Children of Disabilities in Garuga Village where we repaired and renovated the borehole for clean and safe    drinking water. We have also donated Mackintosh mattresses and mosquito nets, 80 of which to Noah’s Ark for better health and clean environment for the children with special needs.

Q5:     Comment on the future of golf in Uganda?

            Golf in Uganda has a bright future particularly with the young generation. This is why NCBA Bank continues to seek to recognize talent among junior golfers as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility. We are inspiring greatness and             encouraging them to Go For It.

Q6:     As we come to the end of the year, what special offers do you have for   golfers?

            We have a wide range of products and services structured around enhancing the wealth of our customers such as loans and interest bearing accounts. Our services are structured in such a way that we interact with a customer, understand their     need and provide a service or solution that will fulfill that particular need.
