Bank of Kigali (BK) is using Golf as a corporate sporting discipline to bring business executives in an attempt to tap into each other’s expertise through cordial relationship. The bank held a golf tournament for CEOs who attended the 2024 Africa CEO Forum (ACF) that concluded in Kigali on May 17, as a platform to network with their local counterparts.

In a communique issued by the bank, the participants emphasized on the need of business unity and how company bosses can build cordial relationships with other professionals outside their domain.

“As the title sponsor, Bank of Kigali underscores its commitment to fostering business relationships and supporting the local sports and leisure in Rwanda,” the bank stated in the communique.

“The tournament serves as a unique platform for local and international executives to connect and build meaningful relationships beyond the boardroom. With delegates from ACF in attendance, the BK Golf tournament offers an exclusive environment for fostering partnerships and collaborations between local and international Cross,” it added.

Vizenge Kumwende, the Managing Director of Malawian firm Nico Holding PLC, said he was impressed by the golf event and his experience in Rwanda in general.

“I am a casual golf player but I am very impressed with the golf park I have seen here; the facilities are top notch. I will also laud Bank of Kigali for putting up this tournament, it gives us the opportunity to interact and build relationships with business executives from other part of the continent,” said Kumwende.

He further indicated that Rwanda is a nice country and commended the development that the country has achieved so far.

“I am very happy with what I have seen here in Rwanda; I hope my country Malawi takes a leaf from Rwanda. I will come back toRwanda again for a week, tour places like Musanze where the mountain gorillas are and build more business contacts.”

On the course, Arnold Kwizera won the men’s handicap 19-18 with 42 points whereas Dr. Roger Bayingana emerged as winner of handicap 10-18 with Butera Rutagarama emerging as the runner-up.

In ladies’ category, Zoe Lin won the handicap 19-16 whereas Cecilia Misari emerged victorious in the ladies 0-20 with 34 points.

The competition was played on the sidelines of the 2024 Africa CEO Forum under the theme ‘Bank on The Blue, Score on The Green. The tournament which attracted atleast 80 delegates from the ACF served as a platform to network with their local counterparts.
