Afriyea Golf Academy to Steer Local Schools in Fort Portal

Afriyea Golf Academy school’s program blends practical golf with theory sessions to help children interested in taking golf as a career to become golf green keepers, managers and leaders in the industry.

With just three weeks into the opening of the second term of the school calendar, Afriyea Golf academy in partnership with Toro club working with the local schools. These schools include Glory to Glory Education Centre, Tooro parents’ education Centre and Green circle nursery and primary school.

In just three weeks, the Afriyea Golf Aacademy has delivered 666 contact hours each child of the 111 of the local school golf children and by the end of the second term (August), the academy is hoping to have delivered 2664 contact golf hours to the children.

Apio Anne, 24, a teacher of primary three class at Glory-to-Glory Education Centre remarked that golf is a great sport for the children since our school embraced golf the children have improved in many aspects in class and outside of class, their concentration, respect and arithmetic’s is far away better. The game teaches transferable skills from the green to class and from class to green.

Isaiah Mwesige, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AFRIYEA Golf Academy, hints that the school golf program is a wonderful opportunity to the children who wouldn’t have had a chance to play golf. They now find it and this a major boost to the overall of the national golf development in feeding the national team with good players but as well this school programs presents an opportunity to promote inclusion and life skills.
